Spring Flower Silver Teardrop Earrings

£41.50
Fine silver, sterling silver
4cm long x 1.8cm wide

A very pretty pair of deliberately mismatching spring bud flower teardrop earrings. Each pair is different to the next and handmade by myself. I found some lovely spring buds in the garden and thought I would make a silicone mould and see whether I could make a pair of earrings from the mould, there are various parts I could use but I particularly liked these two end buds and so I thought I wold make a pair of mismatching earrings in a teardrop shape using fine silver metal clay (99.9% purity), if you want a matching pair just let me know. Metal clay starts life out as fine metal particles mixed together with a clay binder and it can be used to sculpt with or texture or fold etc., it is a lovely metal medium to work with, it is then fired and the binder burns away leaving the metal particles to fuse together to form a solid silver piece, in this case fine silver, there are a whole myriad of metal clays these days. I have used sterling silver wire for the ear fittings as it is tougher and works better for ear fittings! the ear fittings have a lovely long back for safety! The earrings are 4cm from the top of the hook and the teardrop itself is 2.7cm the width is 1.8cm, in inches that is just over an inch and a half, the teardrop is just over an inch and the width is five eighths of an inch. A nice size earring but they will look a little smaller on an actual human than on the bust in the photo which is a little smaller than a human! I love metal clay but please note it does not come out like a smooth milled sheet of metal at the end of all the processes but it is solid metal of whichever type it is made from.
