Striking fan shaped textured earrings with a lovely depth to them and an interesting log texture pattern. I have left the background as it came out of the kiln (they are made from fine silver 99.9% purity metal clay) and polished the raised parts and then burnished them for that extra lustre!! They have nice long sterling silver ear wires to help them stay where you want them to stay! The fan shapes are made from fine silver metal clay, which is tiny particles of fine silver (99.9% purity, sterling is 92.5%) which is mixed with a clay binder and then textured, shaped, sculpted etc., once dried it is then fired where the clay binder burns away and the metal particles fuse together leaving a solid silver piece, first created by the Japanese and now produced in all sorts of metals! They are 3.8cm long from the top of the hook and 3.1cm wide and the drop length is approximately 2.1cm. In inches that is 1 1/2 inches from the top of the hook, 1 1/4 inches wide and the drop length is just over 3/4 inch.
I make each pair individually using a different part of the texture so each pair is unique.
I love metal clay but please note it does not come out like a smooth milled sheet of metal at the end of all the processes, I feel this is part of it’s charm and it is solid metal of whichever type it is made from.
