Gorgeous winged horse Pegasus pendant in gold vermeil. The round picture pendant shows Pegasus soaring above the clouds with streaks of sunlight behind, I have burnished the sunlight streaks so they have a more polished look so they catch the light but this is very hard for me to show on the photographs!

Pegasus was a tale of a majestic flying horse found in Greek mythology. The father of Pegasus is said to be the god of the sea, Poseidon, whilst it's mother was the Gorgon Medusa. Pegasus is best known for its association with the heroes Perseus and Bellerophon. In the story of Perseus’ slaying of Medusa, one can find the narration of Pegasus’ birth. This winged horse later became the mount of Bellerophon, and can be found in the stories about this hero’s exploits, including the slaying of the chimera, and his flight to Mount Olympus.


This pendant is made from fine silver metal clay, fine silver is 99.9% silver, metal clay was first created by the Japanese back in 1990 in gold and then in turn silver, it is microscopic particles of silver mixed into a binder, it can be sculpted, textured, rolled etc. it is then fired whereupon the binder burns away and the particles fuse together or sinter into a solid metal piece.

If you have not come across gold vermeil before it is thick gold plating of 2.5 microns or above over fine or sterling silver and it is very durable. A lot of gold plating is what they term flash or strike gold plating, so it is basically dipped in gold and pulled out so the plating is not very thick, vermeil should be thick and last a long time, I plate these myself so they are to vermeil standard!

The gold vermeil chain is a popcorn chain and comes with a decent sized carabiner clasp and two good sized jump rings so as not to make it too fiddly to fasten! it is gold plating over sterling silver.

The pendant is 2.5cm in diameter (1 inch) and the chain is 46cm long or 18 inches.
