For those who like a smaller pendant this Edelweiss pendant is a perfect size! The design is taken from a vintage button. I have soldered a simple loop at the top and then threaded on a nice chunky cup ring to loop the sparkly diamond cut rolo chain through ( the chain has a good sized carabiner clasp). Simple and elegant and with a little bit of sparkle!
The pendant is made from fine (99.5% silver) silver metal clay and the jump rings are made from sterling silver (92.5% silver) as it the chain, sterling silver is a little tougher so it is suitable for use on parts such as jump rings and chain, parts that get a lot of wear on them.
Edelweiss flowers symbolise courage, bravery and love!
The pendant is 2.5cm tall (1 inch) from the top of the jump ring and 1.7cm wide (5/8 inch), the chain is 45/46cm long or 18 inches.
If you haven’t come across metal clay before it was first created by the Japanese back in 1990 in gold and then in turn silver, it is microscopic particles of silver mixed into a binder, it can be sculpted, textured, rolled etc. it is then fired whereupon the binder burns away and the particles fuse together or sinter into a metal piece.
