A pretty snowdrop necklace with wire wrapped gemstone beads. Created using real snowdrops from my garden in fine silver metal clay, which is 99.5% silver, the coil part is sterling silver which is 92.5% silver but because it is a little tougher it works well for use as a bail or for earrings fittings etc. The chain is a lovely sparkly sterling silver rolo chain with a good sized carabiner clasp and wire wrapped with pretty Amazonite and faceted Peridot beads. The length of the snowdrop part is 4cm (just over 1 1/2 inches) and 2.4cm wide (just under an inch), the chain and wire wrapped beads are approximately 18 inches or 46cm long.
If you haven’t come across metal clay before it was first created by the Japanese back in 1990 in gold and then in turn silver, it is microscopic particles of silver mixed into a binder, it can be sculpted, textured, rolled etc. it is then fired whereupon the binder burns away and the particles fuse together or sinter into a metal piece.
